  • March 17th, 2015 - Meeting at Stew's Self Service Garage

Stew's Self Service Garage is excited to host the March meeting!

'Doors open' at 6pm. Please come to the reception desk to sign the club attendance and fill out a waiver. Then guests will be guided by the Shop Supervisor to bring their car into the shop until the shop is full - first come, first served. Plenty of parking in front as well.

Stew will be on hand to give tours and answer questions.
Meeting starts at 7:30 upstairs in the guest lounge.

Stew's garage has six full bays with four two post lifts, two four post lifts, full 450 piece tool set at each bay and many other tools and supplies available for use. Rent a bay by the hour, day or however long your project may last. Super clean, climate controlled.

Brian will pick up some pizza's from Costco.

I'm looking forward to seeing Stew's operation. I hope it's a profitable endeavor for the guy.

Stew's is about an 85-mile round trip for me. Believe me, I don't have a problem with the distance. But I appreciate Brian's effort to have food available after that drive -- like Robert's last month and the Slomixon drive for February. I'm thinkin' club members should take some kind of action to formalize how we handle (read "pay for") food at these meetings.

      How about a "tip jar"?

Why not pick a location (1/2 between the Canadian and the Oregon border would be nice) that serves food and beverage and make it our usual meeting place? Kinda like in the olden days. Didn't SAMOA meet at a tav on the weekend, have the meeting, then go for a cruise after? It would solve the monthly dilemma of 'where's the next meeting place'.

Good thinking Jerry. The half way point between BC and the Oregon state line (on I-5) puts you in the thriving Metropolis of MILTON.
There is a nice waterfront place to eat there called "The Social Bar and Grill".

I'm not sure how many Seattlites are willing to travel outside of King county THAT much.
It's all part of life's rich tapestry.

            Hi,
            My .02......
While a good bunch of food or ale can be appealing, perhaps we could find an outfit/locations that allows Minors on premises to ensure All members and their Families could attend?

I think rotating locations are the best, especially during the September thru April "darker times of year". This way, some members will always be "close" to that month's location, and thus, more likely to catch a meeting or two.

Regarding the club supporting the funding of food at meetings, I'm all for it. We're a group that likes to eat, especially around dinner time.
I'll continue that discussion by offering up an idea of a max of 50 dollars of club reimbursement, if receipts are produced within 90 days of the meeting. (ie: Spend more if you wish - Caviar, champagne, ... But, if you have receipts for 25, you get reimbursed 25. Spend and have receipts for more than 50, you get 50. ) -- This paragraph will be cross posted to chat section to ensure consideration prior to March 17th meeting. --

Please chime in with your opinions.

Most of all, for President Brian's willingness to run to Costco for Pizza AND to get us such an incredible place to have that meeting: THANKS!

            Best,

We need more club drives regardless if there is a meeting attached or not!

Stew has said that BYOB is going to be fine for the meeting since we won't be working on our cars on the lifts
