  • Food Drive 2010

King 5 and Northwest Harvest food drive is December 4th 2010.
    Taken from Northwest Harvest site.

What types of food does Northwest Harvest need?
Northwest Harvest can use any nonperishable food or monetary donations. If you prefer to donate food, select shelf-stable food with the lowest saturated fats and refined carbohydrates (sugar, white flour). We buy white rice and beans in bulk, so we encourage you to donate other items. Here are some suggestions:

    General food items:

    Oatmeal
    Whole grain pastas
    Brown rice
    Tomato products
    Canned vegetables
Canned fruit, especially with low sugar (but not artificial sweeteners)
    Canned fish or meat
    Shelf-stable milk
Beef stew, chili and similar meals with low sugar and saturated fats
    Infant and baby foods:

    Baby formula
    Canned milk
    Infant cereal
    Jars of baby food
    Powdered or canned milk
    We also accept baby diapers

This is S.A.M.O.A.'s 4th year participating in the King 5 Northwest Harvest food drive and thanks to all our members, each year we exceed our goals!

    Thanks, Tim & Patti Boyd

Food Drive - Count me in!

    Sounds Good Tim!
Come on everyone, see who can get the greatest weighed amount of donated food for NW Harvest!

I'll have the supercharged 1380 in the van by then, and will be able to carry even more weight. ( He said, throwing down the gauntlet for the other LWB cars! )

    Lookin' forward to it!

        Hello friends,
We are closing in on the King 5 Northwest Harvest food drive taking place this December 4th 2010. This year we will be meeting at 8:30 am at Don Dixon’s house in Seattle. We will be making three stops again this year with the first at the Northgate mall then north to the Everett mall and then back south to the Redmond town center. At the end of the run Patti and I would like for everyone to join us at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Ixtapa on the Redmond ridge. This year like last if everyone would come with a total weight of all their donations this would help speed up the process and get us on the road in a timely matter.
I have taken a list of items off the N.W. Harvest web site that they are looking for.

Vote for SAMOA making $ donation to NW Harvest

            Hi Don, All,
Don, If your question is to get peoples opinions on SAMOA making a $ donation to NW Harvest, then please count me in as a Yes vote.
Chuck, Can we please add this possibility to our agenda for next Tuesday night?

Great idea, Don. Thanks also for hosting the starting off point on the run day.

            Best regards,

If you want to vote on something at a meeting, bring it up during the New Business or Old Business portion of the meeting. It's as simple as that.

It is likely I'll miss the food drive this year. Anyone going that can pick up the food Doro and I have set aside?

Hi All, I'm making a change to the food drive route this year. This year our second stop will be the Alderwood Mall insted of the Everett Mall. We don't have anything against the Everett Mall but I figured if we could cut out 20 miles we would.

On behalf of SAMOA's southern contingent, thanks for knocking off the extra miles, Tim.

Weather permitting, I'll be there -- but I'm not sure yet if I'll have company.
