  • Woody Wagon in Auburn

Dunno How I've missed this car until now, but there's a Red Woody wagon in a Storage Lot off of Auburn way. I've driven by there probably 20 times recently and not noticed this car. It's in like a Mini Storage lot and there's a Bugeye Sprite in front of it with no top, both cars look like they've been parked there and ignored for a Long time. Wonder if anyone else has seen it. I'd post a pic that I took of it though the fence if I knew how

Todd, were you surprised to see it in a Mini storage lot? I mean, where else would you look for a Mini?

I live in Auburn and I've never noticed the car. I'm thinking I should start paying more attention to all those Mini storage lots out there.

The trouble is, for years now I've been keeping an eye on those gas stations that advertise "Mini service" and I see very few Minis being serviced there.

        Dan,
I think you need another project.
The more I know about Minis, the more I know I don't know about Minis.

Oh to give you a better idea of where the car is in Auburn, if you know where ADESA, the dealer Car Auction place is, it's just before you go over the railroad tracks heading West twards ADESA and it would be on the left hand side, Not too horribly far from the AM/PM on Auburn Way

I may drop down into town tomorrow to cruise 37th. Maybe I can spot the little critter. I'll start at the Buddhist Temple and scan from there to the railroad tracks. I've spent enough time in that area (Blastech, Performance Coatings, American Powder Coating), I oughta be able to find it.

Dan...did you find it? I was going to venture to the valley, but a stack of papers and exams to grade, lesson plansto write, college recommendations, kids in holiday shows, baking, geez, no wonder I never get anything done! I had visions of trolling up and down Auburn Way in a mindless search for the car. Let us know what you find!

I figure Dan has found it and delivered it to Gunnar with a blank check already.
He's also looking for a place to stay.

I built my pickup using a hefty insurance check from the blue car. I'm not going to smash up the truck to build a woody. No, sir.

But I did find the woody. Actually, I found it with the satellite view from Google maps first, then went to take a look. The weather was bitter enough that I didn't want to get out to get closer, and the storage lot (Hi-Top Storage) was unattended and thoroughly razor-wired so I didn't shoot any photos. Maybe I'll shoot some as the weather warms a little.

Todd's photo says a lot about the condition of the car. It's tucked into the far end of the storage place and visible on the south side of 37th (Avenue, I guess) half a block west of Auburn Way and behind the White River Buddhist Temple grounds. I think it (along with an Airstream trailer and some other derelicts) occupies the low-rent section of the lot. The entry to Hi-Top Storage is actually at the end of 35th off Auburn Way. Hi-Top had a phone number prominently displayed, but my fingers were cold. 253-something.

If you really want more photos, I'll keep my fingers warmer next time.
