It's really red!

That's what everybody says when they see my little truck.

I thought it was time to get a photo up. Thanks to Chuck, Elias and Jerry, the truck's on wheels. If you look closely, you'll see a red coil peeking out from that left-hand subframe tower. I'm running wires now, cleaning up my calipers and painting other miscellaneous parts. We're on the way.

I took a bunch during the week end's work. I'll pass them on to Dan and I think he should get them to you for a "garage project" folder on the club's Flickr site.

Those that may remember Dan's early attempt at running very small wheels on his pickup won't be surprised to see his new take on a pea shooter exhaust.

In the past, a friend and I used to refer to that Red-ness as "burn the retina out of your eye red". It was so much more visceral than "arrest me red".

Hey what's the deal? Your making a low-rider out of that high-in-the-sky truck? I thought you were going with the jacked up look and shopping cart wheels? Man oh man,,, 'er that should be Dan you are so hard to figure!
You can't go wrong with red, it looks great can't wait to see the finished product. The blue beasty was nice, but this is turning out schweet!
I just thought of something. You can say in your signature, No Car Still!!! "cause it's a truck!!!

Not to take anything away from Dan, A special nod should go out to the guy that smoothed the truck out and gave it that shiny red paint job. You do nice work Gunnar!

Here are a few of Chuck's photos from last weekend.


I opted to dump the 1 3/4-inch exhaust system and go for the more-authentic "pea shooter" tailpipe. Chuck thinks it might provide too much boost. I'm thinking of leaving that blue tape on the rear valance, too. It looks good, and should keep all the waxoyl from leaking out.


My pickup was tightening up after being on the trailer for so long, so Elias offered to take it for a walk.


Heading for home: The steel wheels are just for pushing the truck around right now. I may have them powdercoated later as an occasional alternative to my BWAs. In the background is Oly's new Mini 40.

That is looking so good! What's with the coil in the tower? Is that the Adjustable high/lows instead of cones? (yeah, i am just that green/noob/rookie) Also, if you powder coat those wheels, make sure you have the red and blue pinstripes to added to make them look like real Wellers. With all the red, they actually look great.

And on a personal note, Gunnar is now working on another pick up you can go check out- mine. I'll get some picks for the project side of flick soon.

I've heard that the adjustable suspension is less comfortable. Anyone got any input? Anyone had both systems? Dan, was there a specific reason for the ultimate in adjustabilty?

I'll call Gunnar about the sills. I had some, but I may need others too for another project. I'll keep you posted as soon as I talk to him. Just sent an order through Seven and cost a lot. Yeesh.
