Mini Classes at Portland ABFM for 2008

I need to finalize classes for this year’s event – quickly! Please give me feedback on your thoughts on participant numbers per class, class break-outs. Our clubs will NOT be at the “back of the show” this year!


Here are the classes from last year:

MI-33 – early saloon (ext hinged)

MI-34A – woody wagons, all

MI-34B – tinny wagons, all

MI-35A – commercial & ute (moke, van, pu)

MI-36A – late saloon (int hinged)

MI-36B – clubman bodied (all)

MI-36C – competition

MI-18A – MINI Cooper

MI-18B – MINI Cooper S

MI-18C – MINI Cabriolet

And here are MY proposed classes for this year:

There are problems with any class structure at ABFM-type events; especially, with the "popular" vote scheme open to any entrant. To be fair to everyone there would need to be dozens of classes. To be fair to the organizers, there needs to be some minimum number of cars in each class. At most ABFMs there are not enough Minis to fill out the "fair" class set up.
