Alex Moulton also developed the "dry" Mini suspension. SAMOA hosted Dr. Moulton at one of our meetings in the mid-'90s. He was a wonderful guest speaker and a great man. He will be missed.

Unlike his compatriot, the other Alex, he was very friendly to all. When I had the Wildgoose at the IMM in England in 1999 he stopped by to chat. He wanted to know how the cones were holding up in a vehicle that was 45% heavier than the original car. (They were doing fine.) We chatted for a while in the back of the Goose before he went on his way to visit with any and all.
The more I know about Minis, the more I know I don't know about Minis.

As featured in the article linked above, Moulton was also well known as the designer and manufacturer of a long line of bicycles that featured rubber suspension and much smaller than normal wheels and tires.
